This pair of glasses have been great so far. I was in need of a new pair of sunglasses, and with riding season coming up i decided to invest in myself. I have heard such good things about flying eyes, I first did the tester box and decided on the Golden Eagles w/dark Grey lens. I have not had the chance to use under my helmet, but so far they have been so comfortable because of how light and flexible they are.
I have flown a fair few hours since purchasing these sunglasses. I wanted to use them for a while to give an honest review.
The glasses are very lightweight & durable. I barely notice when I take them off & put them in my breast pocket as they are so light I have to tap my chest to make sure they are there.
They do not hurt my ears when being worn with my aviation headset (Bose A20) like other aviator glasses I have bought in the past have. The arms are so thin & flexible they don’t negatively impact the seal of the headset cups optimising noise cancellation.
My only gripe is I wish they were a bit more stylish, but in terms of function I cannot fault them at all. They aren’t sunglasses I would wear outside of the cockpit given the choice.
Maybe a different style would suit me more but the golden eagle really does do the job I need them for. They have good peripheral protection & the gradient lenses block the sun whilst still giving clear view of the instruments.
I’m happy with the purchase & have no regrets. I personally recommend them for anyone who maybe struggles with pain or needs to optimise the active noise cancelling of their headset.
After trying sunglasses with straight arms, which slipped into my full face motorcycle helmet but put pressure on my ears, after cutting other sunglasses arms short, and after trying to go without sunglasses, I saw a guy on YouTube say this brand of sunglasses are the must-wear he would never do without. Of course, I looked for anything similar, yet nothing else out there does what these do. That YouTube guy was right - no competition. So, I ordered the wrap-around design since they have the best peripheral view. They arrived today, and I'm astounded. They look very cool, first of all. The clarity is ideal. The peripheral view sees everything my motorcycle helmet allows. They weigh almost nothing (which may feel "cheap" if you don't appreciate the science.) And most amazing of all, the arms really do smoothly follow my head bending as needed so I hardly know I'm wearing sunglasses at all. I avoided the polarized version because they don't work with some electronic screens. I got the full dark grey. Next I plan to get a prescription bifocal pair, maybe I'll get the mirror version. Really, it's true. These are flexible and thin like nothing else you've ever tried. And they weigh as much as a fluff of cotton - it's weird, in a good way. Nice science, Flying Eyes! I highly recommend these to wear with your helmet.
I saw that Dork in the Road (Ben) and Big Rock Moto (Ian) both loved their Flying Eyes, so I decided to take a chance. They are great glasses. Light, flexible and easily fit in my Shoei Neo-TEC helmet. A little expensive but ultimately worth it.
I have been very pleased with my glasses. They are a perfect fit inside my helmet no pressure points or hotspots. They stay in place during my rides with no need to lift the shield and push them back in place.
Thanks for all the help I received at your booth during the Barbers Vintage Fest!!!
